Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) based selective colorimetric sensor for the detection of D-arabinitol in a urine sample

D-arabinitol is a sugar alcohol that typical metabolite of Candida species. The hydroxy group owned by can function as reducing agent reduce Ag+ to AgNPs. resulting colloid further stabilized the addition capping agent. used in this study was combination chitosan 1%(w/w) and PEG 6000 1% (w/w) (2:1) v/v. formation AgNPs causes an increase surface plasmon resonance spectra solution at wavelength 430 nm with slight blue shift. At same time, color changes from colorless yellow so absorbance be observed using spectrophotometer. change value produced proportional concentration added, amount sample quantified. Under optimum conditions, method shows good linearity R2-value 0.9979 range 100-2000 μM Vxo 4.30%. detection limit 115.11 quantification 383.70 μM. repeatability (%RSD) 0.78-1.94 % recovery urine samples 93.27-103.70. This quite selective for other components present urine. analysis time short, number required only small, does not require organic solvent, has potential determining levels samples.
